Stephen Hodgkin is a highly respected educational leader with more than 32 years of experience in education, including 13 years within the EiM family of schools. During this time, he contributed to the development of both the Dulwich International High School Zhuhai (DHSZ) and the Dulwich International High School Suzhou (DHHQ), gaining extensive experience in international education and a deep understanding of the Chinese educational context.

Stephen graduated from Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography (Upper Second Class Honours) and a PGCE in Secondary Education. He later received a Master of Arts degree from Cambridge. He holds a range of professional qualifications, including the UK's National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) and the National Professional Qualification for SEND Coordination (NPQ SENDCo).

In the areas of student development and university guidance, Stephen brings extensive experience and a creative mindset. He has successfully established dual enrollment programmes with US universities, developed Oxford and Cambridge preparatory courses and designed tailored pathways to leading universities worldwide. He has a deep understanding of the diverse academic and personal needs of students in China and is committed to helping each student discover a growth path that aligns with their unique strengths and potential.

Stephen places great emphasis on moral education and student wellbeing. He has led reforms in student behavior policies, established a student-centered pastoral care and communication system, and ensured that every student has at least one trusted adult they can turn to for support. He also has strong professional expertise in the field of Special Educational Needs (SEND), having implemented Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and reasonable exam adjustments.

As an experienced educator deeply rooted in the EiM network, Stephen has been based in China for many years, where his family has also settled. This reflects his deep commitment to the local community. He consistently upholds a people-centered leadership philosophy and looks forward to working hand in hand with the Dehong community to help every student and teacher become their best selves.
